Paris
One of my least favorite cities on the planet is Paris. As France’s capital, Paris lived up to very negative stereotype I had often heard of even long before I purchased my around the world plane ticket and began traveling the globe. Before reaching the city I promised myself I would approach the French with an open mind. However, despite taking three years of French in high school and making every possible effort to communicate, however rudimentarily, with the natives I was given a complete cold shoulder and rude look everywhere I went despite being told that they would appreciate the effort to use their language. I was charged more in bars and restaurants than French citizens were and I was ignored when I asked for directions or tried to make a purchase in the subway platform. Quite simply, I hated Paris and I don’t think I would ever go back.
