When sales taxes were measured in mils or even a few cents people did not worry about them. When they first started to go up it was in a percentage of a penny at a time but the jump was not noticed. Now in many areas it is over 12 per cent and people are starting to complain because it hurts. Income tax is the same way. If we were to Stop withholding taxes people would start to notice how much they are paying. It is not to late to do that and let people feel the pain before it consumes us all.
